In September, the Icelandic Ministry of Welfare organized a public lecture on the three projects initiated as part of Iceland’s Nordic Council presidency. The lecture was held at the Nordic House in Iceland and was well attended. Two of the four talks were based on the “Welfare and Nordic Crisis Management Strategies” project: Dr. Stefán Ólafsson, principal investigator, gave a broad overview of the project, its goals, methodological approach, and expected timeline; while Dr. Agnar Freyr Helgason, co-investigator, discussed major social policy responses by European governments to the Great Recession, as well as well-being developments in the aftermath of the crisis.
